Discolored Front tooth
There are many different causes of one of your front teeth being discolored. In many but not all instances some type of trauma has caused the discoloration or... the
tooth has had or... possible needs a root canal.
Vital but discolored tooth
Our
Denver dentists have on occasion have a tooth that appears to be OK (vital) but is discolored. This is due in most instances to some type of trauma that bruised the nerve and blood supply to the tooth. The pigments discolored the tooth but it remains vital. In many instances a
dental veneer or
dental crown is the only solution to the problem
Not vital discolored tooth
On occasion the
discolored tooth either does not test vital or begins to hurt. In this instance either extraction or a
root canal is recommended. If a
root canal is performed a white filling or
dental crown is fabricated over the
tooth. On occasion it "may" be possible to
internally bleach the tooth and "just" placein it
Tooth obviously root canaled
Many different options exist in this situation. It could be something as simple as internal bleaching to something as complex and a tooth build up and
dental crown
Matching the color of one front tooth to the other
One of the most difficult things to do in
dentistry is to match one central incisor to another. The suand nuances of the natural tooth can be difficult to impossible to match. The farther you get from the midline... the less critical the color match is. Some of our patients elect to have both front teeth veneered when only one is dark.
